Cycling enthusiasts and lovers of mountain slopes will find their fill in Gemer. On the wide plains in the south of the region, also on winding mountain roads with amazing views in the north. A unique feature for cyclists are so-called “Gemerské spojky”, which are unfinished railway connections from the period of the Second World War. They also include the Slavošovský Tunnel, which is part of the official cycle route connecting the Košice and Banská Bystrica regions. With its length of 2,401 m, it is the longest cycle tunnel in Europe and the third-longest in the world.
