Get to know 24 new products of the GEMER-MALOHONT regional product brand

The GEMER-MALOHONT regional product brand recognizes the new holders of this important award.

Saturday evening in Rimavská Sobota was dedicated to all those who contribute to the preservation of original craft production and present the traditions of our region. Ceremonial awarding of certificates was held as part of the Fašianga folklore program at the House of Education, which was organized by the Gemersko-Malohontské osvetové center on 28 January 2023.

Regional signage in the Gemer-Malohont region extends to the territory of four districts, namely Rimavská Sobota, Revúca, Rožňava and partly to the Poltár district. Since its establishment, 7 calls for submission of applications for the award of the brand have been announced and evaluated. A total of 64 products, groups of products, or services. 20 manufacturers and 4 service providers emerged as positively evaluated from the last call.

The following products and services have been added to the list with the GEMER-MALOHONT regional product brand:

- honey, mead, propolis and pollen – Boris Slatinský, Klenovec

- figurative work, blankets, collars and costume jewelry - Dagmar Dieová, Betliar

- useful and decorative ceramic objects - Bc. Daniela Bödová, Jesenské

- products from 100% sheep's milk - EPPROS, s.r.o., Bratislava (Muránsky salaš)

- beaded lace – Eva Csuporiová, Rožňava

The trademark that these products or services have obtained is a guarantee that they are produced in the Gemer-Malohont region and that they meet strictly evaluated criteria. The goal of the brand is to support local producers or service providers who participate in the development of the region and building its reputation.

At the event, an imaginary scepter was also handed over, which was taken over by the Regional Tourism Organization GEMER from the Local Action Group MALOHONT. She thus assumed the responsible role of coordinator of one of the most successful brands of regional products in Slovakia.

Oľga Maciaková, chairperson of MAS MALOHONT, stated: "Since 2013, we have been building a family of the Gemer-Malohont regional brand. Until now, it was the guarantor and coordinator of the regional brand MAS MALOHONT. The time has come for a change and new ideas, I wish the brand many consumers, good markets and many customers, so that this forgotten region becomes known to many people."

The baton of the brand coordinator was taken over by the director of OOCR GEMER, Jaroslav Hric, who said: "It's not just about pretty photos, but mainly about authentic experiences, authentic products, and authentic tastes and smells, which are also presented by regional products, products, or services." We believe in the successful cooperation of OOCR GEMER with local action groups, the Gemersko-Malohontské awareness center as well as with local producers in the next period as well. "

Folklorists, Heligónkari, and women's singing groups from Malohont provided a pleasant atmosphere during the handing over of certificates as part of the Fašianga event at the House of Enlightenment.

For the invited guests and the general public, a presentation of artisans' creations and a tasting of regional specialties were prepared in the premises of the House of Education, where the participants had the opportunity to taste Revúcke guľky, a foam/dried cookie from Mrs. Krankušová, cheese products from Muránsky salaš, or Muránske buchty bunts certified already in 2018 The tasting also included Pádár currant wine from the winery in Padarovce.

The students of the Private Secondary Vocational School in Revúca took care of serving food and drinks.

The entire festive event was accompanied by the moderator Juraj Genčanský, who also reminded those present of the traditions of carnival days
