Krásna Hôrka castle

Not far from Rožňava, an originally Gothic castle from the beginning of the 14th century rises on a steep conical hill. In the Renaissance style, it was rebuilt into a fortress, later into a representative aristocratic residence. The last owner, Dionýz Andrássy, turned it into a family museum.

On Saturday, March 10, 2012, a large fire engulfed Krásna Hôrka, which destroyed all the roof structures of the castle and the interiors of its medieval part.

The Slovak National Museum-Betliar Museum does everything to ensure that the castle is restored professionally and so that its original atmosphere and the collections that belong to it return to its walls.

The castle is inaccessible to the public.
