Muráň buns

The recipe for these buns has been translated since the late 1960s. It was invented by a local housewife, and gradually people fell in love with it so much that these sweet fluffy delicacies began to be produced in bulk. After a while, the baking stopped, but since 2017, in small spaces on the square in Murán, the bakers have been taking care of the taste buds of passers-by again. The buns are made from sourdough and the method of their preparation is so specific that when resuming production it was necessary to consult with the locals, who still remembered their original recipe. Today, Murano buns are baked with various fillings: jam, poppy, nougat, walnut, cherry, blueberry, cheese, strawberry, raspberry, but also currant.
