Lookout tower on Maginhrad

Above Malé Teriakovce in the historically important location of Maginhrad, a lookout tower rising to a height of almost 17 meters has grown on the hill of the same name at a height of 430 m above sea level. After overcoming 49 steps, in good weather it provides a view in almost all directions - from Kráľova hoľa, to the entire Rimava river valley all the way to Hungary.

Maginhrad lookout can be reached from three sides. On the green tourist route from Nižné Skálnik, on the yellow and green from Malé Teriakovce or from Horné Zahorany. The educational trail In the footsteps of Maginhrad, starting at the pond in Vyšný Skálnik, passing by the tasty water spring Dračia studnička, the mysterious sandstone mines, and connecting to the green tourist route above Nižný Skálnik will also lead you here.

In the distant past, a medieval wooden castle from the 15th century stood on the hill, which served as a Hussite fortress. Since no historical report has been preserved about it, the time of the castle's demise is still unknown. Only further archaeological research can give an answer to the question about the longevity of the castle. Maginhrad Hill with its steep slopes was inhabited and possibly fortified on its sides. He is mentioned in many works of famous Slovak writers and poets, such as Ján Botto, also known under the pseudonym Janko Maginhradský.
