Lookout tower on Slopovo hill (851 m a.s.l.)

Tiny lookout tower is located on the border of the cadastres of the municipalities of Klenovec and Kokava nad Rimavicou at an altitude of 851 meters about sea level.

You can get to it by following the yellow tourist route from the Chorepa saddle, located on the road from Klenovec to Kokava nad Rimavicou. For more skilled cyclists, this place is also accessible from the saddle of a mountain bike (on a forest and forest path, with an elevation gain of over 300 m). The second possible route for hikers leads along the green tourist route from the square in Kokava nad Rimavicou, takes one and three-quarter hours, with an elevation gain of 520 meters.

It offers wonderful views of the village of Klenovec, Hnúšťa, the water reservoir Klenovec, Kokava nad Rimavicou, the surrounding spa landscape, Skorušinské mountains, Muránska plateau and, in good weather, the Low and High Tatras. Slopovo is also used as a starting point for paragliders and hang glider pilots from all over Slovakia.

From the beginning to the middle of the 20th century, a 5-meter-high lookout tower stood near the current lookout tower. It is possible that famous bandit Juraj Jánošík once passed here, as his friend Tomáš Uhorčík (Martin Mravec) lived nearby on Mravcov Vŕšok and it is also the place where the legendary bandit was finally caught by the Liptov guardians.

While the Kokava´s citizens call this locality Slopovo, the name Laz was used among the Klenovec residents, which is derived from the "lazy" settlement, which is characteristic for this area and gives the country its own character.
