New military outdoor museum - Battlefield Dielik

On the edge of the Muránska planina National Park in the Dielik mountain saddle between the town of Tisovec and the village of Muráň, they have opened a new thematic educational site.

The Dielik saddle itself offers a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside as well as a resting place for visitors. The ruggedness of the surrounding terrain predestined Dielik to become an important place, which in the times of the SNP was used by insurgent soldiers and created a defensive line in its vicinity for a possible halt in the advance of the German army.

In addition to the beautiful nature, there is an important memorial site on the site, which refers to the glorious history of our nation. For many years, the Dielik location served as a place where memorialists and participants in the resistance met regularly to commemorate their fallen friends and relatives every year. Over time, our heroes left us and the place was struck by sadness in the form of gradual forgetfulness. This is one of the reasons why volunteers from the Krasnogvardejci Košice Military History Club decided to restore the reverential character to the Dielik battlefield and create an educational site focused on the history of the Slovak National Uprising.

The first preparatory work of this unique project began in the spring of 2020, when the initiators of the project from the regional tourism organization / OOCR / GEMER and the Club of Military History Krasnogvardejci Košice invited representatives of the Muránska planina National Park, Tisovec and Muráň to tour the site and present the project. After obtaining the necessary permits, the first works began in the autumn of 2020. The entire trench line, as well as the bunker, were manually excavated by club members. During the summer of 2021, logs were installed in the trenches, and on August 28, 2021, regional celebrations of the SNP took place here, connected with a historical demonstration of the fighting. " The whole project was created as one of the stops on the thematic regional route of the SNP Road through Gemer-Malohont, where we find several similar places that we plan to expand in the future and together create one systematic comprehensive story of the Slovak National Uprising in the region. We believe that the SNP Educational Site - Bojisko Dielik will serve domestic as well as foreign tourists for reverent events for the SNP anniversaries, as a product of tourism within the SNP Gemer-Malohont Road, or an educational educational tool intended for school trips. Last but not least, the participants in the Slovak National Uprising as an eternal memory "said Viktor Brádňanský, the author of the idea and project.

The project was financially supported by the amount of almost 5,400 euros by the Development Agency of the Banská Bystrica self-governing region through a membership fee in the regional tourism organization Gemer.

The educational site of the SNP - Bojisko Dielik will perform the infantry battalion Prvosienka from Tisovec, which waged heavy fighting here on October 21, 1944 against the advancing German Kampfgruppe Schäfer. This fight claimed sacrifices on both sides and its detailed course, as well as what preceded it, visitors will learn on four information boards. The texts are supplemented by direct testimonies of the participants in the battles from the ranks of the Prvosienka infantry battalion. The overall atmosphere is completed by a restored, more than 100 meters long, trench line and a commanding farm, which visitors can walk through and empathize with the difficult situation of our ancestors.

The educational site SNP - Bojisko Dielik is available to visitors at any time, it starts at the monument to the fallen heroes of SNP in Dielik.
