Turecká Lookout Tower

On December 12, 2009, the Nature Trail Turecká was officially opened with the participation of tourists from around Rožňava, citizens of Rudná, Rakovnica and Rožňavské Bystré.

The educational trail is devoted to mining and forestry topics and is 8.2 km long. There are 26 educational boards and 2 gazebos for relaxation along the path. The highest point of the educational trail is the peak of Turecka at an altitude of 954 meters, on which there is an iron lookout tower. You can reach it by following the nature trail from Rudná in approximately two hours. It takes over two and a half hours from the center of Rožňava after the green tourist sign and 8 kilometers of walking. In both cases, you have to take into account considerable elevations, namely 550 and 650 meters in height.

Pilgrims in bad weather will be pleased with the possibility of shelter in the brick ground floor of the lookout tower, where they can hide in bad weather or sleep in an emergency. A maximum of four overnighters can fit on the concrete floor with their own mat and sleeping bag. The entrance is secured by a metal door and the room is naturally lit by three small windows.

The 15-meter high metal lookout tower offers nice views of the surroundings, in good weather you will have the High Tatras in the palm of your hand.

December inevitably belongs to the Winter crossing of the Turecká educational trail. On the second Saturday of the month, fans of tourism meet in front of the municipal office in Rudná and together they set out to cross the trail, where hot tea awaits them at the top of Turecká. At the last stop of the winter transition, at the former mining plant, the organizers of the event offer a tasty goulash.
